During Term 3 we had our School Concert and it was a great night.

After all our preparation, rehearsals, hard work and nerves the big night came and was a smashing success.

Our songs were ‘Keep it Clean, Keep it Green’ and ‘What a Wonderful World’ and helped share our message that we are all responsible for caring for the sustainability and protection of our planet.

We loved being part of this event and had so much fun.

We all love Footy Fun Day.

We can wear our footy team clothing, we can parade with our team, we can sing our team song loud and clear, we can cheer, we can do fun activities, we can eat footy food lunch and we can have lots of fun and laughs.

We read some footy storybooks and predicted who would win the 2016 AFL Grand Final.

May the best team win! And maybe James will be winner with the biggest grin because he was our class’ only Bulldog supporter! Go Doggies!

During Book Week we were fortunate to be visited by award winning author, Sophie Laguna.

Sophie has written picture storybooks that we have read in class, ‘Too Loud Lily’ and ‘Where Are You Banana?’

Sophie talked to us about her inspiration for her writing, the craft of writing and ways to enhance our own writing.

We were able to ask her some questions and find out more about the process of creating a book.

During third term the Foundation students learnt about measurement and used direct and indirect comparisons to decide which items had the greater or lesser capacity and explained reasoning in everyday language. They compared objects directly, by pouring from one container into the other to see which one holds more.

In class, we had lots of fun reading the story of ‘Goldilocks and Three Bears’ then using just paper bags and sticky tape made three different sized bowls for the Three Bears to have some porridge (popcorn). Ingenious and creative designs were made, modified and manufactured. All three bowls had to contain appropriate amounts for the Three Bears. Great excitement and engagement filled our classroom whilst the smell of popcorn filled the air!

Term 3 has been another fun Term in Italian. The children have continued to learn their numbers in Italian and can now count to 20! They have also kept practising their colours in Italian and have learnt to name family members such as mamma and papa’. The children listened to the story of  ‘Il Mio Fratellino’ and laughed at the little boy’s adventures! image image

This term, the Foundation students have been learning about word processing with Microsoft Word.

They have practised saving and locating their files, typing new information, and inserting photos that they took with a digital camera.

It has been brilliant to see how far they have come since the beginning of the year and how much they also help each other to complete their tasks in class.

Here are some snapshots of the photos and captions they have saved. Click on the image to see a larger view of the image and caption.
